I am a fan of horror!
I write horror stories.
I watch horror movies.
I read horror comic books.
I am a life long fan of Edgar Allen Poe.
I am a fan of horror!
I can suspend my disbelief while watching movie horror!
I can suspend my disbelief while watching television horror!
I can suspend my disbelief while reading horror literature!
I can suspend my disbelief that horror creatures do not exist!
I am a fan of horror!
I have anticipated the new A&E horror television experience -- Bates Motel!
Episode 1 finally broadcast last night, Monday, at 10:00 PM.
I wanted to see this television show because of my fandom of -- Psycho!
And, Holy Shit, was I not disappointed at the sheer visceral nature of the show.
I am a fan of horror!
But I found myself very disturbed when Bates Motel ended.
Not by the obviously doomed, strained relationship between mother and son...
Or the realistic, stark and stunning whole of the violence of the program!
I was disturbed by the violence of the most visceral rape scene put to television!
I am a fan of horror!
Parents... never let your children watch episode 1 of Bates Motel!
Holy crap... it boggles my mind as to what is to come in the future.
Oh, I will be there to watch this horror piece of terror in the making.
But, the rape scene in Bates Motel will give ADULTS nightmares.
I am a fan of horror!
In the context of movie making, or television programming...
Depictions of rape, as horrible as it is, are integral to certain storytelling.
The rape scene obviously is meant to foreshadow the dirty horror in the town!
There are secrets hinted, horrors shown and terror to be displayed in... Bates Motel!
I am a fan of horror!
I could not fall asleep last night, for thinking about these words.
I am not condemning Bates Motel as doing anything wrong!
I am just letting the world know that this writer is shaken by Rape!
Rape, depicted or real, rips a corner off the tip of my soul!
I am a fan of horror!
If you decide to watch Bates Motel on A&E... it is rebroadcast tonight!
I am just giving women a heads up on the fact that you WILL be disturbed!
Vera Farmiga -- an EXCELLENT actress -- made very real, her character's rape scene!
My god... but, in the telling of this horror story... it is what it is... but, my god!
Keep your kids away!
